At Least Two Photojournalists Were Allegedly Assaulted During Capitol Attack
Video shows AP photographer John Minchillo beaten, thrown over a wall
At least two photojournalists appear to have been assaulted during attacks on the United States Capitol on January 6th.
A video, posted to Instagram, appears to show AP News photographer John Minchillo being savagely beaten, threatened, and thrown over a wall by members of the assembled mob. One member of the mob appears to scream “We’re going to fucking kill you” as Minchillo is thrown to the ground, and others scream at him “Are you Antifa?”

Minchillo remains calm through the alleged assault, and does not engage with the assailants. After showing his press credential, he is escorted out of the area by an unidentified man. Police officers standing behind barricades appear to witness the attack and do nothing to intervene.
The man depicted in the screenshot above — wearing a gray knit hat — appears to scream at and physically assault Minchillo.
This man, shown wearing a green bandanna, holding a cigarette and with a “Fuck antifa” sticker, appears to also lay hands on Minchillo and participate in pushing him towards the wall.
