I Wrote the #1 Downloaded Pro Photography Book In the Kindle Store Today

How I got there, and how to grab your own copy for free

Earlier this week, I watched a great video from Tim Denning and Todd Brison about launching books in the Kindle store. One of Todd’s nuggets of wisdom: identify a category you can dominate, and then launch a book which deliberately targets that category.

Another nugget? If you create content, you already have everything you need to create a book.

I definitely create content — I have more than 400 stories here on Medium, and almost 1,000 videos on my YouTube channel, as well as tons of social media content and a portfolio of more than 20,000 photos. So I took Todd and Tim’s advice to hear, spent a morning writing up a book about microstock photography, and launched it in the Kindle store. I used Todd’s techniques to identify a niche and target it deliberately.

Guess what? It worked! I checked today, and my book How to Make $100 Per Month Selling Microstock Photos is the #1 Kindle book in the “Professional Photography” category. It’s also the #1 book in “Photography Reference”, and the #1 short photography read.
