I’ve been creating content here on Medium for about 1.5 years now, and I’ve had some solid success on the platform. My stories have received around 13 million views thus far, and my story about the Bradykinin Hypothesis was the #3 article on all of Medium in 2020. I’m coming up on 10,000 followers on the platform (if you follow me, thanks!) and I’ve contributed more than 450 stories to Medium so far.
Medium is in the process of enacting a major pivot towards emphasizing independent voices. One thing which has come out of the pivot is a new recognition of the importance of independent writers, but also independent publications like Better Marketing, Start it Up, the Post Grad Survival Guide, and more.
What if you’re trying to start or grow a new publication on Medium, though, and you don’t yet have tens of thousands of readers? You may have limited financial resources to grow your pub, and it can be hard to get stories to build out your base of content.
