Earlier this year, I wrote a piece in Medium’s OneZero about Facebook groups. My opinion is that Facebook groups have a lot of challenges (hate speech, issues for moderators, and much more), but that they also preserve some of the collaborative spirit of the early Internet, and can be turned into more of a force for good.

Reporter Angela Ross of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) read the piece and reached out. She ended up interviewing me for a segment on the challenging but important role volunteer admins play in keeping Facebook Groups productive and free of misinformation and inappropriate posts.
